Norlights International School Oslo is a state funded private school (friskole) in Oslo, established in 2015. The school is located in Skådalen. The metro (T-bane) is the closest neighbor to the premises on the Holmenkollen Line (Line 1).
Oslo is a city with a limited amount of schools that have English as the primary language of instruction intended for children in primary school age. By offering an international education, NLIS wants to contribute to the society. The school opened its doors to 1st - 5th graders in 2015, meaning it will have Grade-10 (MYP-5) students in 2020-2021 school year. In the 2018/2019 school year grades from 1 to 8 are available.
The school implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) and Middle Years Program (MYP). These programmes offer high-quality and challenging education for a worldwide community of schools, aiming to create a better, more peaceful world. The section of PYP at NLIS is currently authorized as an IB World school. The school is also an IB MYP candidate school working to become a fully authorized IB world school.
